Planting That Lasts

Most landscape failures aren't installation problems, they're selection problems. A plant chosen for how it looks in a nursery catalog often can't handle the salt air off the Gulf, the sandy soil's low nutrient retention, or the drainage demands of a Southwest Florida’s rainy season, which delivers over 60% of annual rainfall in four months alone. The landscape looks flawless at installation. By year three, much of it is in need of replacement.

Planting has to start with site conditions, not aesthetics. Waterfront properties in Port Royal, Pelican Bay, and Port of the Islands require salt-tolerant species at the perimeter without exception. Every species Tristan selects is chosen for how it performs on that specific site first, then refined for the estate's design intent, canopy structure, massing, seasonal color, and how the planting reads against the hardscape and lighting.

Every single plant and palm we install comes from our family's nurseries in Homestead, not a distributor. CEDARWOOD runs alongside Plant-Source US, LLC, Tristan’s father's company, where we grow specimen-grade material most contractors can't source. We grow several types of palms, mature specimen trees, and rare tropical species, the kind of stock typically reserved for commercial projects and botanical collections.
